Music Therapy

OceansideStrokeRecovery.org

The third Friday of each month, Don Deese provides an hour of music for our stroke survivors and caregivers.

IMG_6329Don believes that making music together is one of life’s great pleasures. A stroke so often makes one feel diminished, but when we sing together, keep the beat together, and move together, possibilities seem to expand. Just the sense of shared movement is like a dance. There is joy in it. There is laughter.Music Therapy (4)

Don has had a full career as an educator and has a master’s degree in special education. Throughout his time as a teacher, he presented learning through music and created ways to reach the community through music. At this time he brings his brand of Music, Movement and Laughter to hospital Extended Care Units, Transitional Care Units, group homes, and assisted living homes in the Comox Valley. Enjoy the music the 3rd Friday of each month.
