Handicap Bikes in Oceanside
November 23, 2019
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 49 Arrowsmith in Parksville has recently donated $5,000.00 towards the purchase of two handicap bikes to be used in the Oceanside community. The bikes were on display at the Legion this afternoon and people were invited to test ride a tandem side by side three-wheeler with physiotherapist Mike Domes. In this style of bike each rider will have a set of pedals to turn and thus get a healthy dose of active movement medicine. Bikes have an electric assist to support the widest varieties of routes and riders. At the same time with one steering column and an e-assist, two people with varying abilities will be able to team up and get onto the Rail Trail, the Beach side Boardwalk, or any number of trails from Bowser to Nanoose, that call us to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
