Annually, Oceanside Stroke Recovery and VIU Spa Institute partner to learn and share. This week, members were treated to a complimentary manicure while VIU students learned about working with people who might have mobility, spasticity, aphasia or other disability.

Member and caregiver, Mary Jane Turner, delivered a 20 minute presentation on the issues the students might encounter when working with clients who have stroked.

VIU Spa Institute is a teaching school located in Parksville and is part of Vancouver Island University. All services are performed by students in training under the supervision of certified licensed Esthetics and Nail Technology Instructors.

It’s a hands down win for both stroke survivors and students! This is the third year of partnership.
