100+ Women who Care Oceanside deliver a Big Cheque during Music in the Park!!

Howdy Folks!

Last week’s Music Therapy session was a special one!  The theme: Cowboy Songs (Walt’s great suggestion)!  Walt came dressed as the man in black (picture coming soon).  Hopefully, when things are brighter, we’ll see him dressed in white :D.

But the big news: 100+ Women Who Care Oceanside recently selected OSRS as the recipient of their quarterly donation to a local charity. Meeting via Zoom, they listened to 3 members talk about their nominated organization. The members then voted, OSRS was selected, and received $28,900! Thank you!!!!

From Left: 100+’ Joan Ethier and Mellisa Tracey, OSRS’ President Gerry and Coordinator Kathleen, 100+’ Debbe Patterson

This gift couldn’t have come at a better time, as Covid forced us to suspend many of our core fundraising activities. The funds will help cover the cost of the hall, our Coordinator, and various therapy programs. Our therapy sessions (run by professionals) include: exercise therapy, music therapy, art therapy, two speech therapists, an occupational therapist, and a psychologist (who provides counselling to stroke survivors and their caregivers).  Some of these sessions are on hold until we can meet indoors again, of course.

Best of all, attending these sessions encourages social interactions which gives us a great opportunity to tell each other some bad jokes, and further develop the things we are working on in the sessions!!!

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you (!), 100+ Women Who Care Oceanside!

Check out some pictures from the amazing afternoon (click to enlarge):  Updated with more pictures, thank you Bernice and Suzanne!!!
